  • Personal data and former education: Dr Saša Veličković was born in 1970 in Nis. In his hometown he finished elementary and high school. Then he enrolled the Faculty of Philosophy in Nis, study group Physical Culture, where he graduated in 1995. His average grade during studies was 9.23. For the results achieved on studies he was named for best graduate student in 1994/95 in his study group. Received his MA at Faculty of Philosophy, a study group of Physical Education with average grade 9.80. He received his PhD at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education in Novi Sad.
  • Professional data: He worked as a coach in the gymnastics club "Nis" in Nis, a professor of physical education in technical school "Nikola Tesla" in Kostolac and as an assistant at the "Stage acrobatics" on the Faculty of Drama Arts in Belgrade. Since December 2005 he has been employed at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education in Nis, first as an assistant and since 2007 as a docent at subject Artistic gymnastics. In 2012 he was elected as an associate professor on same subject.

    He was competitor in the men's artistic gymnastics from 1978 to 1993, and performed for gymnastics club "Niš" from Niš. His best competition results was 1st place on Floor and 3rd place on Vault on the national championship in 1992. For the top sports results and affirmation of Niš sport he received Acknowledgment in 1992 by the Sports Association of the Municipality of Niš.

    He is coach of the men's artistic gymnastics from 1994 until today. He becomes Junior national team coach in men's artistic gymnastics in 2001, and coach of the senior national team of Serbia in the men's artistic gymnastics in 2005, until today. As a coach and selector of the national team during the period from 2001 to the present, he participates on the first European games in Baku (Azerbaijan) in 2015, four world championships, two University Games, over ten World cups, ten European championships, three Balkan games and large number of other international competitions. The best results of competitors in the men's artistic gymnastics, which coach he is, are:

    • Qualification and participation at the first European Games in Baku (Azerbaijan), 2015.

    • Qualifing to All – around final and 22. place in the final at the University Games in Belgrade in 2009 (Miloš Paunović);

    • Qualifing to All – around final and 20. place in the final of the Junior European Championship in Montpellier (France), 2012 (Ilić Gavrilo;

    • First place on the High bar at the tournament of Baltic countries and the countries of the former USSR, 2012 (Ilić Gavrilo);

    • Team champions of Serbia in the senior competition, in men's artistic gymnastics, for 2012, 2014 and 2015 (Gymnastic Club „Niš").

    • First place in senior All – around competition at the national championships in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2012 (Miloš Paunović).

    • Competitors whose coach he is (Milos Paunovic, Aleksandar Miljkovic, Gavrilo Ilic, Dusan Djordjevic, Velickovic Peter and Stefan Ćirković) are members of the Serbian national team, multiple winners of medals at international tournaments. Since 2001, gymnasts that he have been trained and which he trains today are multiple medalists in the senior and junior category at the national championships in both the all – around, and by apparatus.

    By the Gymnastics Association of Serbia for results achieved as a coach he receives award "Coach of the top gymnasts of Serbia" in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, and the award "Coach of the best young gymnasts Serbia" in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. The club where he works as an amateur coach (Gymnastic Club "Niš") for the year 2012 was declared the best sports collective of the year by the Association of Sports Journalists of the City of Nis.

    He is judge in the men's artistic gymnastics since 1996. Rank of international brevet judge, 3rd category acquires in 2006, and position of international brevet judge, 2nd category acquires 2009. Since 2006, as a judge takes part in three world championships, seven World Cups, four European championships and two Balkan games.

    Today (2016) is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education in Niš on the subject of Artistic Gymnastics, president of the Sports Federation of Niš, a board member of the Gymnastics Association of Serbia (GAS), vice president of expert committee of men's artistic gymnastics, national team coach of Serbia in men's artistic gymnastics, international judge in men's artistic gymnastics and amateur coach in gymnastic club „Niš" from Niš.

    The father of two children, Petar and Dunja.
